my ernie balls are starting to wear, so i think i need a new set of strings. i use a 50 70 85 105 gauge, and i like a really warm tone, sort of like jack bruce and chi cheng from deftones. i already had some flatwounds, and i really liked them, but then i went to some ernie balls to get a little variety. can anyone recommend a good set of strings? or should i just get another set of flatwounds? i play different kinds of music.

Try dr roundwound. I find flatwounds sound a little dull.

It's all about the abalone. You can't play metal without it. Mother of pearl? MOTO? GTFO!

Rotosound is the only way for me. I can't play with any other string.

What did you think of the roundwounds? they will be a lot brighter than the flats.
