Hey guys, my band just posted our first two demos. They're both acoustic so obviously the full band versions will be quite a bit different. We recorded these with Dan Dunham from Stop Is The New Go. We're trying to do something a little bit different than most of the pop-punk scene by having a female vocalist. Check out the two demos and let us know what you think. Feel free to add us on myspace, facebook, or twitter.

I liked it, it reminded me of the vaselines a little bit. The vocals were great.
The only thing i didn't like was the continued power chord down strums but i guess thats where the pop punk genre kicks in.
The lyrics coulda've been abit less straightforward and more cryptic but that is just what i find ideal in music. And from my very limited experience of listening to pop punk, the lyrics are very similar to what you guys have, so you seem to be right on target to the genre your going for.

Can't say that I've ever listened to The Vaselines. I'll check them out. Yah, the power chord part is pretty typical haha. We really appreciate you taking the time to give it a listen even if its not the type of stuff you're usually into!

Hey! I just checked out your stuff, and it was pretty enjoyable.

The few criticisms that I have of the song I listened to (Congrats, full band version) are that the hook guitar riff seems a bit sloppy within the context of the whole band, especially when it is repeated after the vocals drop out. The vocal range of the entire piece seems like it wants to be a bit larger, especially during the chorus or towards the end of the song. It makes the song a bit stagnant when there aren't many things that develop and build throughout.

Send me a message if you are ever trying to gig in the Boston area, and I might be able to get you on a bill. If you get some time, I would really appreciate if you checked out my band Helicopria (link in the sig) and posted in our thread. Keep on rocking!

congratulations your not a winner.... why dont u just take enter shikari's name and call it sorry your not a winner. Musicians steal from other musicians yes, but dont make it so obvious. ps vox blows

Windwaker - Thanks for taking the time to check it out! I agree with you that the song isn't as tight as it should be. The recording time we got to do the song was minimal since it was a school sponsored project, and they made us do it live. If we had taken the time to track-by-track it, the song could sound much better. We're going to be looking to play Boston this summer so I'll hit you up. I'm going to check out your band right now!

NinjaStrez - Thanks for at least listening to it. No need to be a peckerhead though. The name has absolutely nothing to do with the Enter Shikari song. Using "You're Not a Winner" in a title doesn't make it a ripoff. The vocals also aren't as tight as they could be because of the reason mentioned above^. We got two takes, straight through, and our singer had a cold. ps you blow.

A few thoughts I had were that it needs to tighten up some. The Your Not A Winner song was much tighter than Catalyst for sure. Just keep playing to a metronome and it will help greatly! I am a fan of the singers vocals, really dig her tone, especially on Catalyst!

I don't know if it was the way it was recorded but I thought that the rhythm guitar was really muddy. One more thing, the DUN DUN "Think Again" part in the chorus of Your Not A Winner really broke up the power of the chorus.

Overall a great start! Great vocals! Just tighten up instrumentally

Take a listen to my band if ya could!
