I'm trying to install a game made in 1998 and it says my 64 bit windows is incompatible. Is there a way to downgrade it temporarily so I can install the game?

What windows do you have?
Impossible is just a word people say to make themselves feel better when they quit.

It wouldn't work anyways even after installed. You'd have to fresh install and use a permanent-older operating system software.

Right click the game and click Preferences, and the menu should have an option for "Compatibility Mode." That's probably what you are looking for.

What game is it? Many old games are on sites now.

this. search for it and most likely you'll find it's been reinvented with flash or java or whatever kids use these days.
either that or the game was so bad that no one wanted to even make a remake of it, in which case you should be very ashamed of yourself.

Yeah I have a problem similar to this.

My desktop with windows 7 will not play KOTOR. Should I just run it in a compatibility mode?

It's Grim Fandango. And I have Windows 7. And let's say i don't have the "retail version" but I tried to run a SETUP.EXE file and that's when it said it's not compatible with 64 bit. It says the file was made in 1998.

Right-click -> Run as?

Have you tried opening the .exe's properties and running in compatibility mode?
