If Gavrilo Princip didnt kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand, how different would the world be today?

I'd imagine that WW1 would have never started, the Ottoman Empire, German Empire, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire would probably still exist. I'm not sure what the United States would have turned out to become, and im pretty sure the British would gain a larger stronghold on India. The Ottoman empire would have probably helped the Arab world become a stronger power since their influence was pretty dominant.

Russia would still stay the course for the The Bolshevik Revolution, and Soviet Russia would probably still exist.

WW2 would have probably never existed, but a unification of Germanic ancestry would have probably took an even larger step than what Hitler tried to do. Hitler wouldnt have had much to be mad about since he didnt get to fight in WW1 as well.

Post your ideas based on historical accuracy, or not. Im just interested in hearing what could have happened if Gavrilo Princip didnt pull the trigger setting off a set of unimaginable events that started WW1.

Well, Hitler would've probably chose a different government to take over. Or there would be an even worse tyrant, and we would be learning about him.

EDIT: Stalin.

I was under the impression that the war would have happened regardless, the assassination of the archey-duke was just an excuse to go to war, the tensions had been building for ages.

WWI would have started 4 years later when Yuri Potemkin attacked Kaiser Wilhelm's wife with a pitchfork during a state visit to Gdansk.

We were still heading for WW1, all the powers of Europe seemed to be up for it, the assassination of Franz Ferdiand was just an excuse.

Side Note: It's actually fairly amusing when you look up the assassination attempt itself, the assassins completely botched the initial plan and Gavrilo Princip just got lucky when the car headed towards him. It's so weird to think how much of our history was created through chance, had his driver turned down another street the assassination might never have happened.

Bear in mind I'm going from what I remember from history lessons some 5-6 years ago (which isn't much).

I believe that it wouldn't have made much difference really. The relationship between nations at the time was very tense, and it wasn't going to take much to plunge them into war.

Even if Franz Ferdinand hadn't been killed, there would probably have been another incident that would be the catalyst.

Also, the band probably wouldn't exist.

We would probably be about 50 years behind technology wise i guess.

I honestly believe the driver was in on it. He took a wrong turn and then the guy get shot? It is pretty weird.

WW2 would definitely not have happened without the treaty of Versailles being imposed to Germany. I guess there would be no Israel, but the Austrio-Hungarian empire and all those wouldn't exist.

Or they'd just have a different name...

>_>

Unless ofcourse the bands creation was reliant solely on them being called Franz Ferdiand.

'twas a joke, albeit a poor/overused one.

Really, I think WWI have occurred eventually. It would have unfolded differently, but the balance of power in Europe was wobbly long before the Black Hand started anything. Different battles, different times, but generally the same combatants.

Wasn't Princip or whatever having coffee at a cafe though? I thought he realised they'd failed and managed to escape, and was completely surprised when he saw Ferdinands car on the way to the hospital.

Even if Gavrilo Princip didnt kill Archduke Franz Ferdinand, WW1 would have happened IMO. Shit was so incredibly tense in Europe at that time. The assassination was merely the trigger that set off the war. If that hadn't triggered it, something else would have. Hence, I don't think the world would be that different from nowadays.
