I have literally spent hundreds of hours trying to find music similar to these examples with no luck. They are completely instrumental, very progressive and changing, melodic, and incorporates many other instruments besides traditional guitar/drums such as piano, violins, and many others, occasionally sounds as well.

Can anyone listen to these awesome songs and let me know what genre it is, and give any examples of similar music?

---These first 3 from guilty gear x heavy rock tracks, a japaneese cd, most of the songs are pretty awesome, but heres the first 3 I came across for the example.

---Twisted metal 2 - los angeles

(this one is actually quite different than the above examples, but I'd love to hear more like it. Its just so much better sounding than any of the instrumental music I run across)

I really have spent hundreds of hours searching for similar instrumentals I like, but everything I find is always pretty plain and non progressive, or just strait shredding with no real melody or flow, and simply unmemorable. The songs I've listed are all very upbeat, fantastic rock/metal instrumentals, with a great progressive flow that stick in your head and are worth listening to over and over. I'm desperate to find out what genre this is and find more like it.

Thanks.

First few remind me of something along the lines of Adagio.

you need to look into Power Metal or Symphonic Metal type stuff.
I highly recommend Symphony X or you may want to check out Michael Romeo's solo album.
and if you want Power metal then look into Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, and Demons & Wizards. but i dont know about any instrumental stuff. But since im not into power metal anymore the main one i would recommend again is Symphony X. Very progressive and epic! but im a prog-head so.....yea

Interesting deduction. That was my original intention.
ME:
Well don't.

Agreed.
Also try Hammerfall's Crimson Thunder and Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys 1 & 2. Some good tunages on there.

Thanks for the responses so far. In response to you guys.....

StewieSwan: Goog suggestion, It is an instrumental song which is what I'm looking for, but my personal taste I just didn't like it, the riffs actually seemed annoying, didn't have any melodic flow.

WhalePudding: I'm interested in hearing this Adiago, but couldn't find it on amazon or youtube (I listened to some stuff called adiago, but it wasn't rock), do you have a song name?

Pithy Radish: I liked Ozielzinho a lot. Those are 2 of the best new songs I've heard in a while, great flow and melody. I'd really like to hear more of him and more guys similar. Although I searched Amazon, and didn't find any actual album by him. Does he have an album? And do you know other similar guys?

cyco_bob56: Its great to hear from a fellow guilty gear x fan. Perhaps it is power metal, however I have spent many many hours searching for power metal instrumentals, and never found any that compare.

Braiton:I've also searched for neo classical, as well as avant garde in my searches, but never had any luck finding any good neo classical instrumentals like the examples.

guylee: Thanks for the animals as leaders suggestion. Almost all the youtube videos of them were blocked in the US for some reason, and amazon didn't have samples either. I heard found about 2 songs that weren't blocked on youtube, the 2 songs I heard seemed a little bit shread heavy for my taste, however they were good enough that I do plan on somehow listening to more of them.

RaySolava: I love symphony x, they are fantastic listen to them all the time, although they have lyrics so that sort of puts them in a different category, since I'm looking for instrumentals. Glad you pointed out that Michael Romeo has a solo album, I just sampled it on amazon, had some good sounding stuff, I liked it a bit, although nothing too catchy that made me actually want to listen to it again, like the guilty gear stuff. I'm planning on listening to some of those other bands you mentioned as well, I bet I'll find some I like, although being music with lyrics, they are in a different class.

cyco_bob56 (post 2): I listened to all 3 of those symphonic metal songs you suggested. They sound good, very similar to symphony x I'll definetly be remembering them, especially crimson thunder, although they do have lyrics. Right now for this thread, I'm really trying to find more guilty gear x style music with no lyrics.

I've found these and it might be to what you might like.

Just go on youtube and type in whatever power metal/symphonic metal songs then add either "instrumental" or "karaoke". Won't guarantee it'll work everytime but it should net you a few good ones.

EDIT: Thanks for pointing that out Chuckles.

Try out the band Tetrafusion. They're fairly unknown, and their debut release "Abosolute Zero" is completely intrumental and quite an enjoyable listen.

The first song off the record:

Much more well known artists would definetly be Animals as Leaders and Scale the Summit. Tosin Abasi is a beast on that eight string, and Scale the Summit just makes you feel happy to be alive every time you listen to them. Great driving music actually.

The work computer won't open youtube so I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but check out Animals as Leaders. They fit your description.

They don't sound like Animals As Leaders. At all.

Sorry for reviving a relatively old thread (which should not be in the Pit btw), but perhaps these two pieces may interest you:

T-Square - Truth

Andoh Masahiro - Moon over the Castle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQMlzcbfz0I

I think you may be interested in the genre of J-Metal, which contains some instrumentals similar to those mentioned here in this thread.
