Yeah, technically it should be in EG, but I avoid EG like the plague.

Ho-lee-Shhhiiittt. Is this a nice guitar. I can't put it down, the neck & action just feel astonishing. For an 80's guitar as well it's in fantastic condition.

I bought this because I've been searching for a Gibson LP, and a few people have told me these are real LP killers. They were right... It sustains for weeks, has a real LP vibe about the sound, bright but fat with it.

Some new p/ups might be needed, just to tweak this to where I really want it to be, but those'll come later down the line.

I'm keeping the review short n sweet because after I've finished my lunch I'm going to throw together a vid of it running into the Matamp

Play some High on Fire! It looks kinda like Matt Pike's First Act guitar.

Also, is it just me or does every GG&A regular dislike EG?

Sweet!

My SBG-800s didn't have those inlays, i had dots.
also, yours has fingerrippers and the upgraded pick ups. i'd be surprised if you really wanted to change them, if so dibs on those. it's basically the same as most sg1000 guitars that i've seen. wow.

those really are great guitars, i've had 3 over the years. a 3000 showed up in the store one day but i couldn't get the deal done with the guy.

congrats ben, we need some more pics of the thing, what a beautiful top.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

greg! if you ever see an 800-1000 like that walk into your store, I call dibs! The reason I didn't buy yours was I couldn't deal with the dot inlays.

now i don't feel bad for trading my hbspruce for one with birds lol. i will keep my eyes open for you, and goolz. i think he wants one too.

yea the yama inlays are sweet, now i want to find another yamaha. the green ones were friggin sick. i have this thing about green guitars.

I'm super jealous because yamaha SGs are just the best guitars ever. end of story.

I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Really? I think that's the one color I could never own!
I haven't seen a green guitar I really like.

And thanks!

my hot rod is green as well as 2 of my guitars, so i am very biased. my old mustang was green. i dunno, always been a fan of it.

congrats again ben! you lucky bastard what did you pay?

So, I heard you like High on Fire riffs

Greg, cheers for the info! After playing around with it a bit more, I don't think the pickups will be going.

I paid £550 posted, much nicer price tag than the LP's I was searching through

my 500 slayed every gibson lp in the store until you got to the R0. (that was the only one with a similar slim neck profile.) the yamaha sounded better hands down.

EUROPA TONE FTMFW!!!!

I'm going to download some High on Fire nao...

and... good price!

All of HOF's music is essentially the soundtrack to war. Unrelenting aggression and sheer br00t4lity.

I'd recommend Blessed Black Wings and Death is this Communion, both really great albums.

Don't lose the pick-ups if you do decide to replace them. They are often worth quite a bit.

I'm glad you like it! I'm going to buy an SG one of these days.

HNGD!

for anyone interested, Vox just came out with a similar Korean-made guitar equipped with P-rails, also comes in a singlcut model. Apparently I played the first one available in western Canada, and dear God it was epic for a $1k guitar.

Agreed, EG is ****ing awful.

Grats on the new axe!
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Feel free to express yours so I can make an informed judgement about how stupid you are.

Whats the radius like on it?
Fingerboard looks pretty curved on your vid.

Those voxes look nice, bit expensive, for the price you could pick up one of these on fleabay.

HOF are teh awesome.

Don't know the radius Becky, but it plays a dream

Excuse me while I facepalm. When playing it at first I was like.. "Waiiittt, these 'buckers are very bright, loads of treble going on here.." They when playing now while unplugged, I noticed that they are push pull pots on the tone pots, so I believe I was using them split

That's okay. We love you enough around here that you could probably post a new acoustic guitar day.

Anyways, happy new guitar day! I have some serious respect for Yamaha guitars nowadays. It also looks awesome. I might be GASing for one right now.
