How do I get a distorted solo tone?
I don't have any pedals so that won't help me.
The Range of levels I can use is listed below:
Bass = 1-100
Mid = 1-100
Treble = 1-100
Drive/Distortion = 1-100
Channel Volume = 1-100

I want a Jeff Loomis Solo Album sound (the leads), but It doesn't have to be perfect. Just the best you guys can get with the levels that I have.

Thanks in advance!

What amp are you actually using?

Don't know much about jeff loomis but a standard solo tone for rock type stuff would be lots of highs and lows and mids around middle or a tad lower set gain to desired amount...that will get u started

You, my friend, are in the wrong forum. And we'd need to know your amp to be of any help.

try throwing in lots of delay and reverb

Won't really help that much at all, Loomis' tone is relatively dry compared to a lot of shredders.

Okay, I'm not a tone master, but it sounds like he's playing with a nice bit of bass and mids, but cut the treble a bit.

Although I can be totally wrong.

Do you think you could give a number (1-100) for those?
And maybe give me a clue to how much distortion?

I usually like bass on 5, mids at 6, treble around 6. A little tone knob rolled back. Some delay and a bit of technique. Gain at 2.5 with a bad monkey boosting my XXX.

Take sometime and figure it out yourself bro....you may find a better tone while on your quest....I'm sure you would rather have your own tone than Jeffs

Don't start telling me my amp sucks, because I have gotten lots of good tones through it (besides this one). I have a Line 6 Spyder II.

You won't get Loomis out of that. Sorry but it's just the truth, all the gain settings on all the spider amps are voiced completely wrong to get his most recent (and in my opinion best) lead sounds. The man uses a £2000 preamp and god knows how much moneys worth of power section and speaker cab so sorry, but this time your amp is just not up to the task.

Main guitarist and songwriter for Nevermore and has a solo album out, also one of the poster children for the latest wave of properly shredding guitarists.

The best thing to do is stick everything on mid (so 50 on your amp)
Then just mess around till you find a amazing tone
If you think it needs more bass, turn the bass up etc
