Real Name: Matt Schultz

Age: 15

Location: Ohio/Kentucky, the most humid place on the planet.

Favourite Artists: I enjoy almost anything, but the biggies are Taylor Swift, Elliott Smith, Built to Spill, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Beck, Ben Monder, Josh Ritter, Braid, King Crimson, Atmosphere, Owls, lots more...

Most Inspirational Writer: Tao Lin or Jibade-Khalil Huffman. They're both original, emotional, and i just enjoy them a lot. There is a ton more, too.

Favourite poet/poem (published writer): http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html? id=177291

If you could be any writer ever, who would you be: Walt Whitman because i could say the exact same thing 4,372 different ways and people would worship me anyway. I would also have a kick-ass beard.

If you could be any flavour, which would you be: Coffee flavor, or spicy thai food flavor.

Why Do You Write: i write in order to communicate something, whether it be drastic, silly, sad, remosreful, or whatever. i just want to say what i want to say and say it in poems, or any art.

Favourite word(s): undulate, perfect, empty, adjust.

Favourite Writer(s) on UG: Kdownes was the first on here that really got me into poetry. Ganoosh, Alaskan_ninja, Subway, Dylan_, Mutmoo, greyedfire. I hope no one is offended if i didn't mention you. i love reading most anyone on the forum.

Most Helpful Critic: Anyone who crits something other than 'lolwat' is usually pretty good, but Ganoosh always has something unique to bring to the table. As does Subway. 21Wickwing does a good job as well.

What Do You Do Especially, to Find Inspiration: I never feel out of inspiration, or rather, i don't force something out if i have nothing. The minute i say 'I'm going to write something' i've already hit a wall and am done. but i ride my bike a lot, listen to music, play guitar, talk to people, drink/eat, just about anything and really focus on that action if i am really spent and am searching for something. I also look at photos of people on a social networking site and get some milage out of that. is that odd?

Your Most Recent Work and the Reason Behind It: 'Haley, Would you mind if i loved you' is kind of a sequel to the first poem of the same title. i guess the reason behind it is to make up for being a complete asshole, and to sort of focus on an inability to communicate emotions and/or the fear of communicating emotions, because i feel that at least my genenration has come down to that. it's a warning or sorts.

Tips for Newer Writers: don't rhyme unless you can say something of meaning while rhyming. read people on here.

What’s your goal in writing: my goal is make the reader feel and/or think. no matter how bad a poem/piece of art is, if it makes you think/feel something, it is a very good poem/piece of art.

Final Comments or Thoughts: this forum means a lot to me. the mods organization of it, the users (and the mods) who have beautiful thoughts and poems, it just means something big to me. I really appreciate everyone who ever said anything about something i've written. it's those people that deserve to be Writer of the Month, not me. which brings me to also thank everyone for this award. i'm glad to consider the idea that i might be a decent writer.

thanks again, everyone!

Congrats, man, really well deserved. Great picture too, btw.

oh, and i'd also like to ad:

My first ever mention in WotM
Congrats man. Like alaskan ninja said, this has been a long time coming for you. I appreciate the shout-outs too. Oh and please keep writing because I can only imagine the writer you can be in a few years
here, My Dear, here it is
I don't know who you are mate - I'll go back and read some of your writing - but congratulations.

I would like to see more people that I haven't heard of to win this thing, gives people a chance to discover something new who haven't been around in a month or something.

congrats man

edit: you were 11 when i started posting here... weird...

double edit: i won this first when i was 16. never give up in yourself okay? writing is one of the toughest things there are to do in this world but you need to stick with it no matter how hard it gets, and trust me, it will get hard. write what you enjoy to write and grow only in directions you want to grow. good luck.
