I'd say decals because you have to think if you spray your case and one day you get bored of the way it looks its stuck like that. If you use decals and you get sick if it you can easily remove it.

Should be a consideration.

Decals do not stick well to fabric or curved surfaces.

You could buy decals, stick them to something thicker, cut them out and use them as masks (stencils) for spraying on.

So mostly flat, but fabric-ish.

Best bet is as I said, get your decals or create your own, but use them as masks (stencils) and spray the design on to the case.
Obviously, if the case is black etc, you will need white first of you want any bright colour.
