So what amps do you think are more br00t4l than the peavey 6505.

So far that is the hardest edged metal amp i have encountered.

Recently I've played mesa, marshall, peavey, axe fx, and splawns.

Edit: Amps that come to mind that might fit the bill are framus cobra, mako mak2?

My Ampeg SS-140C is pretty heavy, and its open-backed too so really really really tight.

oh, i had a mesa single rec, and thought it sounded like arse compared to my splawn. The 6505 makes the splawn sound like a mid gain amp.

U know the 6505 is a copy of slo.
But yes. It does but for downtuning and 7s fryette beasts everything I've tried so far. I have tried diezels or barons or the other euro metal amps though. I'd guess it would be pretty close

Which Splawn did you play? IMO the Nitro kicks the 6505's ass.

edit: judging from your sig, the Nitro

Diamond Nitrox

Diamond amps sound like ass. Way too much gain.

I'm no blues wanker, hell, I play an Engl and it has oodles of gain, but the amount of gain on tap in a nitrox is just plain silly.

contributionedit: Herbert is a pretty damn brutal amp.

The Natas will have more gain than any amp ever made ever. Fortin makes a Marshall mod he calls the Hulk that has like double the gain of a 5150 and the Natas is gonna have even more than that. And supposedly it'll have better articulation than an SLO at max gain levels.

7add9 chords come through on most amps. I wanna hear one where I can play a first position root FMb9#11#13 and hear everything.

^Not if you wanna get technical about it. At least he didn't call it the Hendrix chord. I hate that name, especially when people use it for chords other than the #9.

Yes.

I'm mostly referring to a particular blues wankler on this forum who feels that anything remotely high gain is just noise. *COUGHbubbtubbsCOUGH*

Nitrox is definitely just noise IMO.

Probably the Diamond Nitrox. The Carvin V3 and the EVH 5150 III are definitely contenders, though.

Alright, just checking.

Sort of relevant to this thread, I never ended up making an entry for the high gain competition. I should do that soon.
