Seriously,I see families with 3 kids that each kids has a seperate bedroom and a gameroom, they all have tvs and computers in their room and maybe sometimes a mini-fridge and the family isn't that rich either, what is with people today spoiling their children?Im not saying I had a rough childhood but we certainly didnt have a gameroom and a computer and TV at each room.

Because the parents that can afford to lavish them with such gifts don't often have time to spend with their kids because of their high paying-time consuming jobs. So they think material things will make up for their lack of being around.

The parents probably work a lot and pacify their kids with objects. Those kids are probably gonna be materialistic bastards when they grow up. The parents probably don't even spend time with their kids.

It's because people don't know how to parent anymore. They'd rather buy the kids whatever they want to keep them content rather than disciplining them they way they should.
Your opinion is just that, YOUR opinion. It doesn't make you right. It doesn't make you better. It doesn't make you god. Everyone has their own view and that view is neither right or wrong.

Ignorance destroys music.

In my household, it's because we all worked and earned our right to own material possessions.

In a lot of other households, it's because parents lavish gifts on their children in order to pacify them in the home, usually leading them to think they're entitled to act better than everyone.

Do you know them personally?

Are the kids rotten and are assholes?

Why don't you mind your own god damn business?

You can give children all the shit in the world. Doesn't mean they will be spoiled.

1. Tech is cheaper, as said above.
2. The more you spend on them, the less time you have to spend with them, which is important to a lot of people nowadays when technology means you can be working 24/7 and be in contact with your boss constantly.
3. Once they're asleep you can open the secret panel in the fridge keeping beer from them/put porn on the TV/etc.

So really technology. I'll bet people in 1854 would call kids in 1968 spoiled for having air conditioning and lightbulbs.

And for the record, not everybody does; I have my bedroom and a corner of the basement, no TV for myself, no minifridge, etc. It's just a few isolated cases.

Still I saw a kid who had a fortress in his room.he had a flatscreen, gibson guitar,mini-fridge and would not let anyone go in his room while his brothers shared a room.

The reason why my family has lots of computers and fast internet it because:

My brothers friend introduced him into Halo 3 and runescape, he got addicted to the games. Then my sister and I wanted to try playing and then we got addicted. We would fight over the computer until we each got our own computer. We would also get annoyed by the slow internet connection and then my brothers asks for faster internet.

And theres a lot more stuff but I'm to lazy to talk about it.

What bothers me more than the spoiled brats are the people who spend so much time bitching about them. Ignore them, they want attention. If you ignore their whiny bitching, they'll change in order to earn back your attention.

And in case you're curious, here's how it happened. The parents had shit parents, thusly they became shit parents.

Sounds like mommy and daddy have a favourite then. That or this particular kid was unintentional; some parents shower a child they didn't plan on having with gifts to avoid them feeling not as loved as the other children, even if doing so goes overboard.

Thanks. It's glad to finally be welcomed after living on the poor side for 16 years. The floor in our apartment also has holes and the windows don't have windowsill's because we didn't have enough money for them when we installed the plastic windows. Pretty cool. I'm embarrassed to bring friends to my home.

Meanwhile, this douchebag at school was whining that his parents wouldn't take him to Egypt during the summer break.

This.

Btw, unlike most kids, I earned the cash for my guitars, my PC games, etc. Hell, I even earned the cash for this PC I typing on right now.

Because parents are working nearly all day long and it's easier to sit the kid in front of the xbox and feed him fast food than to do proper parenting.
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

I don't really understand it. I've grown up in a household where we don't get christmas presents or birthday presents that cost more than 20 pounds, or maybe not even a present at all.
I just remember at like 12 years old, the kids I knew were getting PS2s for their birthday and stuff like that and I don't think I got anything for my birthday and had to make it up when people asked me.
Even now at nearly 18, I still don't get presents over the price of 40 pounds and there are people I know who get given cars for their 17th birthday.
I don't understand it at all.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't had birthday presents for like ever, Christmas presents aswell. I just stopped celebrating my birthday at all, cause it's just a normal day.
