all we have is audacity and a rockband mic... its for a demo song for myspace... should we record as a band or each instrument separatly? and I heard about using a towel? does that cause less fuzz?

I'm not sure about recording separately it would probably sound cleaner, but the towel is used to mute any unwanted ringing out you would have playing on higher frets.

Given what you have to work with.... I'd try playing around with mic placement and recording it live off the floor.

Could I get some more talent in the monitors, please?

I know it sounds crazy, but try to learn to inhale your voice. www.thebelcantotechnique.com
