I just bought a Dean Hardtail hardly used from somebody and I noticed the tone knob fell off along with(I'm gonna sound stupid) a shaft or a stick holding it. (I'm sorry I don't know much about the maintenance) So I took that off and put it back in and tightened the screws and everything. After that I attempted to put the knob back on and it still came off with the shaft. If anyone knows what needs to be fixed, please let me know!.

Sounds like the shaft of the pot broke off. Replace the pot.

Yep, you need a whole new pot. They aren't too expensive, and very easy to replace on your own, if you can use a soldering iron.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

Just so you know, I read everything you type in a Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs voice.
