i was wondering if you guys and gals think i could get a decent bedroom level country music tone from a peavey vyper or a vox vt50 ? or do i really need go venture into the all tube fenders and what have you

Well a Vypyr can realistically get you almost any tone. 80% of the way there of at least...but it won't sound quite as good as a tube amp.

Would this be just for bedroom/home use or would it be for gigging also?

If you want that Fender tone at an affordable price and LOTS of versatility for country sounds, I'd recommend the Fender Superchamp XD. They run about $300 ish and are better than other modelers for cleans by far, in my opinion. And they're sexy.

Alright. Check out this video and see if this is what you're looking for. It can get you that twangy clean fender sound easily and has tons of features without being expensive. I've played one with a Tele actually at my local guitar store and it was awesome.
