I'm trying to learn my first guitar solo, which happens to be "Communication Breakdown" by Led Zeppelin, and I'm wondering how I should i go about it? I know all the parts but i can only play them slow and separate. In particular, the first little, continuous line of the solo is the most troublesome for me. Should i play them all together to the beat of a metronome?

Learn a different solo.

That first lick is damned hard to bring up to speed cleanly, it's a fair bit beyond what you'd call a first solo.

Try Highway to Hell by AC/DC or if you realyl want a Zep song then just learn the Stairway solo.
Actually called Mark!
