Can i use my Roland keyboard into cubase SX ( by MIDI ) without a VST or a soft synth and record stuff straight away? Do i just set up a MIDI track? Just plug the keyboard in my interface and record??

On the keyboard theres a MIDI in and a MIDI out and a MIDI in and a MIDI out on my interface, what sockets do i plug the MIDI cable into?

Sure and then play the sequence back into the MIDI in on the synth (ie. MIDI out on interface to MIDI in on the synth) so it becomes your sound module. You don't need a soft synth when you have a real "hard" synth.

So to record; MIDI out (synth) > MIDI in (interface)
to playback; MIDI out (interface) > MIDI in (synth)

Sorry, I edited my post with some clarifications while you were typing.

PS: an electric piano IS a synth
