i can solder fairly good, i was thinking about getting new pickups for my strat and came across this. and figured it would give me more of a Clapton esque sound and also my main amp dosent have a EQ so i can go that way.

is it a viable alternative to getting that instead of pickups to hold me off for awhile?

the epiphone valve i got is my main now, forgot to change my siggy.

the way musicians friend explains it ,it seems that its always on but you can set how much of it you want by turning the replacement tone knob?
