It's an SG with EMG 81 and 85 pickups in it. Since I don't care for the sound of either pickup, I was wondering if you guys think it'd be a good idea to put a 60 in both the bridge and neck positions, or even a 60 in the bridge and a 58 in the neck.

Also, with either combination, how would it sound going through a Russian Big Muff into a Bassman 4x10?

Chrome Division meets Soundgarden meets David Shankle.

In other words, dirty hard rock meets grunge meets neoclassical shred.

I personally wouldn't use active pickups at all for that. Hard rock and grunge just scream dirty passive pickups to me. EMG's would be good for the neoclassical, but just don't fit in my head for the other ones.

If it is that exact guitar, isn't 850$ for it too much? Even if it has got EMG's on it. Musicstore is selling brand new Gibson SG faded's for 740$ new. Basically you should be able to get those EMG's for the other 110$ you would still save, and you'd have a new guitar and not used.

Look up Chrome Division. Both their guitarists use EMGs And that's the bulk of my tone.
