My Fretting hand's thumb is really uncomfortable. I don't have it across the back of the neck like recommended. I have it resting and sometimes pressingagainst the neck. This makes playing chords and shifting power chords something of a challenge. Any advice? and I can't switch to the recommended way. that screws up my playing entirely.

Dont really worry thats how i play
If it bothers you then just keep working on doing it the normal way

Also, get some new gear

Man, thank God the russians created UG. Otherwise, how would I have gotten this information?

Dude, personally, I'd recommend getting used to playing the recommended way.. you don't wanna get screwed over in the long run when you're unable to play something because of it.

Suppose i do that. Will i have to re-practice riffs that I could play normally?
Because when I attempt the recommended way its completely different and awkward.
