Recently I've been really interested in listening to songs with headphones and really want to find more songs with intersting stereo effects or good use of panning/binaural recording ect.

Songs that have a sort of flow between earpieces.
So pit, what are the BEST songs you've found that are done like this?

Anything off BTBAM's last 2 albums

Jeff Loomis' solo album

I seriously recommend ANY classical music to be listened to through headphones with a good file format like FLAC, it's absolutely amazing. Saint Saen's organ symphony is absolutely epic with a good pair of headphones or without. Nothing beats live orchestral works but a good recording with good headphones is the next best thing.

Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix. It is the first ever song to utilize stereo panning.

Big Sur Moon by Buckethead has an amazing panning section
Pretty much any of Buckethead's clean albums have it as well
JordanFlayer uses:

Fender and Yamaha Guitars
Ernie Ball .11-.54 Strings
Marshall and Peavey Amps
MXR Pedals
Fender Medium Picks

Revalation(Mother Earth) by Ozzy, it's not really a song with panning in it, but it has tons of depth and things you wouldn't normally hear with speakers.

It fully envelops you.

Also, Warning - Watching From a Distance

Another interesting listen on headphones is The Who Live at Leeds, not so much for the stereophonics, but because you can actually hear the footsteps and stage shuffle in the action. Check it out.

Shooting Star - Black Stone Cherry
there's only panning for the first few seconds though
WARNING: Signature may not be handwritten

Ayreon's Amazing Flight has some nice panning effects in the chorus. Makes my eyes water when listening through headphones for some reason though.
#25
Nobody's Here - Devin Townsend

There's a ridiculous amount of stuff going on in the background of that song that it's easy to miss at first if you're concentrating on the vocals and guitars.

Jimi Hendrix's entire discography.
And now I'm going to leave because my left earbud quit working yesterday because I was swinging it around like a retard and you people will make me envious

When the drop comes. Oh god....

edit: oh he wants panning and stuff.

nevermind.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

this is possibly one of the best things i've heard in ages.

Also, if I were to suggest anything, i'd go with the Periphery song above. Demo version is far superior to the album one.

dude, what kind of shitspeakers do you have if you don't notice the panning without earphones?

I've got a €50 creative 2.1 set and I get amazing sound out of it for the price, and the panning works just as well as any other stereoset....
