Title says it all.
I'm getting back into guitar after 6 years and I want to get some recommendations on gear for Blues Rock/Rockabilly.
So yeah, help a brotha out.

EDIT:
I'm selling a bunch of stuff soon. So I should have about $1,000 to spend. Not looking to spend it all, but I will if I have to.

Question mark.
Like...artists?
If I had to choose, it'd be an Eric Clapton, James Burton kinda tone.
I prefer Fenders over most guitars too.

I like you sir.

I'm probably gonna save up for a hot rod deluxe.
I like those a lot =]
And the guitar choice...that's what I'm most concerned about.

Which era of Clapton do you prefer? If you prefer his Cream era, I would get a Tweed Fender or the Marshall Class 5, and an Epiphone Les Paul/ES style.

If you like his Fender era, or would prefer Fender guitars, I would still get a Tweed Fender. He uses them nowadays, last I checked. At least his Cream reunion was a Tweed Fender

No. I like Clapton's stuff in Derek And The Dominos, or his album with B.B. King was amazing.
I'm going to play blues rock more than anything, I just listen to a bit of Rockabilly when I'm in the car with my friends. They're the pompadour, white t-shirt, cowboy boot dudes. =P
Most of them play guitar and I got really interested in getting back into it.

See just that statement makes it much easier to suggest guitars.

And by preferences I meant what do like in a guitar (pickup type/bridge type/body type/neck type...)

For that price range I would say look for a used made in japan fender stratocaster. Much better than the modern made in mexico ones and can usually be found for $500-$800.

For the amp my vote goes for the Marshall Class 5. Guitar?? Buy with your hands and ears not your eyes.

The following statement is true. The proceeding statement is false.
