I have been looking for a cheap (under $200) electric guitar kit but im worried about quality so I was hoping you guitar experts could help me

I found a couple:

and

http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Special-Strat-Value-Black/dp/B0030F6BWS/ref=sr_1_6?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1280643706&sr=1-6

What should I get? If any of you know any better kits please let me know.

Man I highly recommend ANY of the Fender packs, but try to aim as high as you can, my first kit cost me 500 bucks (in the aussie dollar), but I ALWAYS regretted not spending 1 or 2 hundred extra for the slightly better model though, save up for an extra week or two to get the BETTER kit. Don't buy cheap shit.

Again I suggest anything buy Fender for great quality at great value. It may also depend on what style you wish to play. Fender may not be best for everything?

What do others suggest?

If you are a true beginner, there's nothing wrong with a Strat pack to learn on. That was my first guitar and amp. During that time you can save your money and upgrade when you feel you are ready to.

Ive been playing on my acoustic seriously for 6 months, and being a Tom Morello fan its very limiting. So I just want a guitar and amp to get me started.

System of a down
Tool
The White Stripes
Muse
RHCP
AC/DC
QOTSA

Those are the main ones :P but I could go on forever.

Ight when you're shopping look for a guitar with humbuckers, while single coil guitars will be good for morello and RHCP and stuff humbuckers are better IMO in beginner guitars because you don't have t worry about feedback.

^Just my personal opinion.

If you can find a Squier pack with a humbucker-single coil-single coil pickup config, you'd be set.

Squier does make a beginner pack with an HSS strat but it's about $150 over his price range. =/

http://www.amazon.com/Aria-714-Standard-Electric-Guitar/dp/B002AMVBWM/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1280714070&sr=1-4

Aria 714 STD, currently $86.38. These are better guitars than Squier Affinity Strats (normally sell for around $170 or so). Very versatile in that it's HSS, has a coil-split, and has a contoured heel for comfort. Here's an Asian Youtube vid of the guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkQtq9Jw0l8

then.. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-Vypyr-15-15W-1x8-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=482908

There you go....under $200 shipped for everything... Just make sure to take whatever guitar you get to a professional to get it setup ($30-50). Definitely ask around to see where the best place to take it would be.

I think im just going to get the Fender kit, it has everything in one package and if I don't like it I can return it :P and i'll get the Aria 714 Standard as my second choice.

Yeah man the Fender should do the job very nicely (I LOVE my Fender Stratocaster!!!), and it should even come with a bag, a tuner, a stand and 10inch amp, plus everything else.

Good luck.

Peace!

BTW I also have an Aria AW-20CE and I am in deep love with this instrument!
