I'm getting an agile goldtop and I'm just wondering if they make noise cancelling p-90s like they do regular single coils? I mean, I'm not expecting to use this for anything unreasonable, but if I feel like covering some social distortion, I don't want it to get annoying.

I believe they make a stacked p-90 humbucker which is probably your best bet.

The p-90 stacked humbucker would require you to rout your pickup cavity a bit, or else your p-90 would push against the strings.

Are you sure I'd have to rout the cavity? I do not have the means to do that.

A P90 is a different size from single coils and humbuckers. You will need to route, yes.

It's not the size. It's the height. I'm getting a guitar with normal p90s but these are stacked.

And I guess you could raise the bridge if you don't want to route the cavity.

Well then...

Reducing cavity height won't be that difficult. I mean, you can take a hammer and chisel to the cavity as long as you're careful. It's a part that no one ill see so you don't really have to worry about how it'll look.

If you have a dremel I suppose you could even use the micro-router bit to route out a few centimeters.

I'm looking for p-90 sized. I just don't have the means to rout. Any way I could just sand it a lot with a really abrasive sand paper?

Wait, if you need a P-90 sized one...

However, if your pickup cavity is less than 1.25 inches (32 mm) deep in the neck position or .75 inches (19 mm) in the bridge position, guitar modification may be necessary.

Check your guitar's depth.

It's an Agile. a $225 guitar will not have quiet enough pickups to play what I play.

Its possible to tame the noise of P90s and use high gain. Good shielding and star grounding makes my P90 guitar barely noisier than my humbucker guitars.

Just get a noise gate. You should have one anyway, just because. You do have a XXX.

If you use a lot of gain (judging by your comments and your Peavey XXX)....Why are you even looking at single coil pickups? Just get humbuckers....

Also, more money doesn't necessarily mean quieter pickups. If you got a 2000 dollar Gibson with P-90s, it would probably be similarly as noisy....

I like the sound of p-90s.

good p90s and single coils are not as noisy as bad single coils and p90s

bkp p92s and wolfetone meanest p90s are almost noise free
a bkp sinner doesn't make a peep compared to stock singles.
