Hey, if anyone can give me some advice on getting the really thick, distorted tone in either of these songs

I would appreciate it. I would prefer the tone from Coda Maestoso but either is just marvelous. I have a Fender Strat played through a Boss DS-1 into a Fender Blues Deluxe, I know it's not ideal for something that thick but I'd like to get close to that sound. Thanks.

I'm going to have to make a different suggestion.

It sounds like low fi over distorted garage rock to my ears.......God I must be getting old to say that.
Bhaok

The following statement is true. The proceeding statement is false.

I would like to add: not only are you not going to get that sound out of your DS-1 and you need a fuzz pedal of some kind but also the bass plays a huge part in the sound of bands like that, you might want to try playing along with a decent stoner/sludge bassist and see what you can get that way.
