What the title says. Recommend me some stuff to start with in classical. I like quite alot of classically influenced post-rock and such, and I'd like to get into classical music.

Listen Beethoven Symphonies (specially the fifth and ninth) and Piano Sonatas
Hola.

Gustav Holst's The Planets
Igor Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring
Eric Satie - Lere Gymnopedie
Bachs Cello Suites (1st esp, and the violoncello minuet)
Paganinis Caprices (5th and 24th esp.)
Vivaldis Four Seasons
Debussy's Sarabande for Piano
Liebestraum No3 - Liszt
Beethovens Moonlight Sonata, movement I and III especially.

Also, for more modern classical (or minimalism in these cases) check out:
Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi (esp Pruit Igoe)
Steve Reich - Electric Counterpoint I - III

Thanks everyone, I'll look into your recommendations. I should've mentioned that I'm a big Steve Reich fan already, but I haven't really looked into Philip Glass.

Additionally, check out Rachmaninoff's preludes and Arthur Honegger's Pacific 231
