I'm looking to throw a Fuzz Pedal into my effects loop for a stoner metal sound. Pretty much i'm looking for this tone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtbOgfu_Zyc

I found an EHX Little Big Muff, and a regular Big Muff, pretty cheap, but also found a good deal on a Guyatone TZ-2. My biggest question is does anyone have any experience with the TZ-2? How does it compare to the Big Muff? And feel free to recommend me other Fuzz Pedals. Not trying to spend more than like $70, will obviously be buying used

Wait, what?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Feel free to express yours so I can make an informed judgement about how stupid you are.

That's not stoner metal and definitely not a fuzz.

1. that's not stoner
2. there's no fuzz being used there
3. it does not go into your fx loop.

you can't dial in a similar tone on the 5150?

experiment with not diming the gain...
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

This. It's kind of hard to recommend a fuzz to get tones that don't come from a fuzz.

i never ever ever dime the gain, most of the time i use a ts9 with the gain at about 10 or 11 o'clock. maybe when I change my power tubes this week the tone will be better.
i changed all the 12ax7s out the other day and my amp seems to be a lot brighter now, almost too bright to the point where i can't get it to even out with the bass the way i'd like, hence why I wanted to experiment with a fuzz pedal for more of a growling low end.

but if you say a fuzz pedal is not what I need, then what should I be looking at?

darker preamp tubes.

what did you put in there?

i put all jj 12ax7s in, and I just bought a matched pair of jj 6l6gc's

think I can get away with putting them in without biasing my amp?

sorry for all the noobery, i'm still sorta new with using pedals

i left one of the stock ruby's in though(left the one that lit up much better than all the other old ones), cause i didn't have th eloot at the time for a 5th one, but i'm thinking about getting one or two sovtek lps's to throw in there as well

yup.

i'd start by simplifying. lose the screamer for now.

use the 6/6/6 setting for a start. gain less than half. that is a mid heavy tone.

and you need volume to push the pig a bit. it's not an amp that likes to be quiet.

are the 6l6s i got gonna be super bright to?

in that case i might just sell them and save for some svetlanas or something

they shouldn't be.

tubes won't prevent you from getting that tone.

you just have to eq the amp in accord with them.

also could i change the 6l6's without biasing? some people tell me i definitely shouldn't and other people tell me it's okay. this is my first all tube amp so i'm still learning.

dude at sam ash told me i had to, dude was a douche though
hey gregs can you get this guy in trouble cause he was a dick?

i probably could, who was it? you could too though by just emailing the store manager. his card is at the front desk. it would actually be better if you wrote a note.

it's not ideal to swap tubes without biasing. it can and has been done countless times. if the amp hasn't been serviced in some time it's worth doing, or having done.

would i install a matched quad without biasing? yes. but that's me not you.

it's only a duet, not even a quad. but i bought this amp used, and the guy told me he bought it in high school and hasn't really used it much since, he appeared to be about 23-26.

when I opened the back when I got home with it, it was very dusty, so I carefully cleaned the inside of the amp as best as I could. But its pretty obvious that the hand had not been serviced in a long time if ever. So I guess I should get it serviced

it's your first tube amp right?

it's a good one, pro's use it.

would you buy a '64 vette and not change the oil?

yes, it's worth getting serviced. just to make sure everything is fine.
