Every time I practice I am frustrated with my picking. I tried every picking position but all seem uncomfortable. Might this have something to do with the shape of my guitar(I hate its shape by the way)?

What shape is your guitar? Shape definitely has an effect on picking technique (to a certain degree).

well the jackson kelly is based of an explorer so its kind of like an explorer.

Damn, that's a beautiful guitar imo. But yes, shape can affect technique and other things.

A big example of uncomfortablity is if you have a flying V, the guitar can slide down your thigh when you sit.

Is it also a problem that I play it in the classical position?
