So a lot of the hype around Nirvana is centered around Kurt Cobain and his life. Many people try to relate to him and the things he did in his life. If you look past everything about Kurt and actually listen to the music you can relate yourself to his lyrics, even if you can't understand them half of the time. The guitar playing can be a lot of noise and sporadic strumming but it is superb. The background rhythm flows like the way a crashing waterfall pummels the rocks. With pounding drums, smooth bass fills, guitar that attacks you and words coming from different directions, how could you not fall in love with the sound that is Nirvana.
