They just bent the voters over and screwed them big time.
"We're going to let you voters decide this issue directly on the ballot!"
"Kewl, we want to vote yes on this shit!"
"O w8, nvm you can't do that."
"****!"

Declared unconstitutional does not equal anything changing. Or are all laws banning same sex marriage now void?

The voters matter when it doesn't involve denying a minority group equal rights.

Good.

And to all the confused people, once something is declared unconstitutional *a law* it is declared null and void by that reasoning.

So yes, congress just said banning same sex marriage is illegal

Then they shouldn't pretend to give the voters a choice on an issue that will inevitably have only one outcome.

Fuck yes. Even though I don't really want to get married, I still would like to have the option to marry anyone, instead of just women. Although this is only in California.

But yeah, are the other same-sex marriage laws going to be shot down, too?

Also. Wasn't this whole issue started when those against it said in the bible marriage is between a man and women. What happened to separation of church and state? And are those people not aware that the definitions change over time? Gay didn't always mean "homosexual".

Fock. yes.

Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.

It's because of the law itself, not something regarding its passing... Onwards an upwards to SCOTUS we head. This isn't over, guys. Not by a long shot. This will be appealed as high as possible.

Cry about it to the government. Complaining about it here just makes you look like an insensitive bigot.

Also, why are you guys looking to argue with 'homophobes'? Are you trying to get a flame war going?

I just plan to report them

By the way, guys, don't get so excited just yet. This doesn't apply to anything broader than Proposition 8 at this point.

Honest mistake I guess. It's not like either side of the argument profits from the law when it gets revoked after a short time.

Yes, but certainly we can hope that other places that have bans on same-sex marriage, like Tennessee, for example, will eventually have their bans lifted. Although the best way to do it is just to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and replace it with something that federally recognizes them. Of course, that would be considered "too radical" for most people. Jesus.
