So, there has been 4 quite large CMEs lately, producing aurorae that can be seen with the naked eye. I think this is quite cool, the next CME to hit Earth will the at 00:00 UTC, which I am staying up for. The last is at 6am UTC, which just happens when I'm getting up for work, so hopefully I'll see both

Have a gander at this:

That's beautiful. Do you have any way of taking pics, or do you know a site that will host some?

(By the way, I read the title as something about massive oral erections or ejaculations.)

I'll try to take some pics if the clouds don't **** shit up. I'll post them if I get any.

Times are as follows:

Wednesday, August 4 – 07:00 UTC
Wednesday, August 4 – 17:00 UTC
Thursday, August 5 – 00:00 UTC
Thursday, August 5 – 06:00 UTC

Obviously, 2 have already passed. Next one is in 50 minutes, last one is in 6 hours, 50 minutes.

Damn, I'm way too far south to see any of the aurora.

I'm at 53 degrees North (off the top of my head) so I'm in for a show

That's cool.

Mars is supposed to be the closest it's ever been, and will be for some time, to Earth this month. I guess it's supposed to be near the moon.

EDIT: I don't mean near the moon physically in space

Thanks, I'll have to go in my garden to face north (thank you google maps!)

I'll take my mp3 player incase it's not on time

Saw some this morning. Will be watching again tonight. Not much anything more brilliant than watching mother nature glow after the sun cums all over her.

I'm at 55 degrees north so I should be able to see it. I just hope it goes this far east.

If I had to make a bucket list this would definitely be on it. I hope to see it

Well, the nearest city to me is about 15/20 miles away, and I can see light pollution on the clouds, so hopefully I should be able to see an electromagnetic interference field generated by the Sun's electromagnetic discharge becoming locked in battle with the Earth's magnetic defence barrier.

Doubt I would've been able to see them here anyways, but I stuck my head out my window and looked north, and all I could see was Belfast, in all it's orange light pollution goodness...
