With all that oil spill stuff going on, I know some people/groups (including the entire fleet of people involved in the Mayhem Festival this year) are boycotting BP. I've decided to do the same, which can be hard seeing as there are at least 5 within 2 miles of my house, but they don't deserve my money anymore.

I think all the nearby petrol stations only have BP.

No. They are all owned by local people that have a franchise. Boycotting BP stations doesn't hurt BP it only hurts your community and neighbors.

Why? It's a mistake that's been blown out of proportion! If you Americans didn't have such a dependency on oil then it wouldn't have happened.
#14
I never went to BP before the spill. I was under the impression that there was no BP in my town, but then I was drivin' down Rt. 10, as I often do, and saw one that I guess I'd always just been oblivious to. But anyway, I usually just go to the Mobil down the street from my house. So I'm not really boycotting BP, I'm just continuing not going there, which I would have done even without the spill. I guess now I can act self-righteous about it, though?

And the UK or most of the western world isn't dependent on oil?
#16
I've never been to a BP to buy gas, so I guess I sort of am.

Say that it's been blown out of proportion to the people living in the gulf who depend on tourism and fishing to make their living.

Nope.

Why should all the small business guys who manage those gas stations have to suffer for what the big guys on top do.

First, I don't drive yet.
Second, I don't use BP on principal because my dad works for Shell.
Thirdly, I live in France, ergo, no BP anyway.
Fourthly, That would be silly, why kill a company that gives thousands of jobs? They've already lost a shit ton of money and learned a lot about how safety and efficiency is important, so why dilate their already incredibly dilated rectums? Those guys are shitting cash at the moment, have you guys seen how much their shares have been devalued?

This and to be fair its petty to boycott one company because they spilt oil on america if it happend in another place americans would not care plus they tried to pull all the blame onto the british so they can sod off

British Petroleum. You ****.

The UK is lucky that it happened in international waters. And how the F*ck do we operate with out the gas?
You're acting like its a crime to use resources that are available.

No, considering BP didn't cause the oil spill.

If you boycott BP you are an idiot. It isn't like they haven't been trying extremely hard to fix the problem and they could really use the money right about now... so take your pretense activism somewhere else as it isn't doing anything helpful here.

Oh, hello there. I hope you'll pardon my ignorance, but why does BP deserve to be boycotted for an oil spill? They did not cause it, and they are working to fix it. It's not easy to stop a high-pressure leak 1500 meters below sea level.

Or am I missing something important?

Pretentious and boycott really do go hand in hand.
I had a friend who tried boycotting Coca-Cola... But not fanta

edit:
And to anybody taking the huff out on British people in general: you truly are moronic. More moronic than the residents of Hereford, who are unable to navigate their own high-street,without breaking their ankles on a curb. A tiny 20cm curb. One month. 4 broken ankles.
See, this is similarly relevant to blaming us...

The company stopped being British Petroleum over 10 years ago, Einstein.
They merged with Amoco. Which stood for AMerican Oil COmpany.

BP is a multinational company. It hasn't used the name British Petroleum for years.
