It seems that some people on this site tend to get way too wrapped up into how technically difficult a song is, or how face-melting that one guitar solo was, and don't really get to appreciate songs that aren't quite as technical. Anyways, post those types of songs here. Any genres as well!

This song is based around the chords, A2 and E Major.
I can honestly say I have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

Pretty much one chord throughout on that last one.

I reckon there's only four or five notes played over a couple of octaves in that whole song.

Maybe not the exact thing you were thinking of, but Buckethead's Electric Tears album. No face melting shredding and stuff, just amazingly emotional guitar. No bass, no drums, no vocals etc. One of my favourite albums ever.

I'm not a huge fan of Buckethead, but I agree. This album is amazing.

BTBAM ftw olololol

On a serious note, I love Linkin Park, and most of their songs just consist of drop D power chords with some octave chugging.

nice to see The National get some love here .

one of the best minimal pieces ever in my opinion: Sigur Rós - Samskeyti

I wrote a few songs that are quite minimalistic as well, but haven't recorded any of them yet.

I like quite a lot of "simplistic" music. David Bryan, Viggo Mortensen, some new age stuff, the Buckethead album mentioned earlier.

It's much easier to relax to a nice soothing piano/acoustic guitar than a billion note solo.

So What - Miles Davis

More generally, pretty much half of the entire post-rock genre

Except Coltrane and Cannonball's solos aren't anywhere near what you could call "minimalist."

I'm a fan of Steve Reich. You can't get any more minimalist than minimalism.

I don't know exactly what you'd call this genre-wise. Probably minimalist electronic or something, but it's one of the best videos of all time. Of ALL time!

I'm guessing Elliott Smith could be considered minimalist, absolutely love this song though.

I dunno, some of his guitar playing was pretty crazy. And then his later albums got pretty layered. I love Elliot.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

Actual minimalist music is terrible, I think.
