My history teacher from last year just got arrested for "Sexual Misconduct"

On Thomas Michael Brown's Facebook page, where he has 417 friends, it lists his favorite quote as "choices have consequences."

For the 59-year-old teacher at Forest High School known as "Coach," his choice, according to sheriff's detectives, was chatting to a juvenile in a sexual manner online and even exposing and fondling himself.

The consequences for his actions: Brown has been slapped with three charges, solicitation of a child via Internet, transmission of material harmful to a minor, and battery.

Brown was arrested Wednesday by sheriff's deputies at the Marion County Sheriff's Office and transported to the nearby Marion County Jail.

Before he was taken to the jail, Brown, led by Lt. Christopher Vorisek and Deputy Roderic Marques to an awaiting squad car, faced the media about the accusations. Dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, a handcuffed Brown tried shielding his face from the television cameras, declining to answer questions.

This is pretty crazy for me since he was actually my teacher last year and I never noticed anything odd from him. He was also married and had kids and grandkids. He also was a strong Christian and did daily online devotionals for a church.

I'm pretty sure that the 17 year old girl he was in to wasn't is my class, since my class was a sophomore class.

Discuss...

One of the teachers at my old middle school got fired for something bad but I'm not sure what. Some people said he jacked off in class, some other people said he started yelling at his class and called a girl a cheap prostitute.
I'm rgrockr and I do not approve of this message.

He subconciously or deliberately wanted to get caught with a quote like that.

They need to start asking around if hes had interactions with more than one student, or child.

In my high school this past year, my freshman English teacher and the Varsity b-ball coach got kicked out after he sent the text "I can't wait till you're 18" to 2 insanely hot seniors. It was all that was talked about for like a week haha, but most girls thought he was hot and all since he was in his late 20's.

Haha, my old english teacher has been trying to get my room mate to go out on a date with him for weeks now. He got fired because he got another teacher pregnant, when both teachers were married.

Yeah he probably really wanted to have his reputation ruined, his family think he's a creep, get fired from his career, and get thrown in jail and tried for pedophilia crimes. Your psychiatry degree is in the mail buddy

apparently the janitor wanted in, they said no, so he ratted them out.

I had a teach who's last name rhymed with pedophile. He didn't look like a pedophile until we started calling him Mr_____The pedophile, then how slowly transformed into one as a result. Wore a bow tie, got one of those mustaches and big arse glasses.

Weird shit.

Calm down hot shot. Guilt can be a big proponent for uncontrolled desires. Plus, you just never know with so many people nowadays.

This has happened in my town a few times.

Although one of my old teachers nearly got sexual misconduct for popping a girl on the ass with his hand in a non-sexual manner. She made up a bunch of bullshit about how he'd been touching her inappropriately throughout the year, and he almost went down for it. She cracked in the courtroom at almost the last second and confessed that she made all the molestation stuff up.

There was a rumor that one of the principals during my years in high school was in a porn. a few weeks later she was nowhere to be seen (hmmmm).

I had an English teacher that explained to one of her students how to find the g-spot.

Actually, there was rumors at my old school the principal fired the science teacher because the science teacher was getting a little "too close." They were both women.

Not sure exactly what were discussing but...

I've heard when I was in high school the the guy who was principle until my junior year left his previous school because of sexual relations with a student or something like that. I'm pretty sure it's true, he was a great principle as far as principles go though.

This happens way too often.

The officer at my school got in trouble for something like that not too long ago.

I always thought he was kind of creepy.

One of my middle school history teachers got fired for "sexual misconduct" a few years after I was in his class. He was probably one of the best teachers I've ever had, and couldn't believe he would do something like that. Once we figured out who the girl was that got him fired we figured she made it all up because she was a notorious attention-seeking bitch.

Principal. This man doesn't seem to have any principles. He most definitely puts the Pal back in Principal, though.

Although I really do feel horrible for the people that this really happens to, it's alarming how vulnerable the teachers are to allegations like this. It's shocking how many of these cases turn out to be false. Of course, their names are all over the news before appearing in court/being found guilty, so their lives are ruined anyways. I hope everything works out the way it should.

edit: I believe the statistic is 1/20 are found guilty.

Not sure what that particular site's reputation is, but I have definitely read about it elsewhere too.

Oh yeah. It takes their reputation and smashes it.

I know a guy who just earned his teaching degree, and has been a student teacher for awhile now. Some 6th grade girl accused him of calling her out in the hall and asking her to ride home with him. There are factors which make that an absurd accusation, such as cameras in the hallways, and the fact that no other students saw him even make any contact with her, other than maybe once or twice during his lessons and telling her to put away her cell phone.

They've investigated the whole thing and decided it wouldn't stand up in court, but that dude's reputation is gone. Idiots around town still call him a pedo.

edit: He's not a close friend or anything; his dad does my yardwork.

I find it interesting that a history teacher would be banging the younger generations.

@Nil: Exactly. There's no compensation for that stuff either. Like I said earlier, it's really sad when young girls ARE taken advantage of by people in positions of authority, but there has to be more in place to defend the innocent (majority). I personally don't think someone's name/picture should be given out publicly until they're found guilty.

It's good to hear that. But most people aren't as intelligent/informed with such matters.

I agree.

I've always thought it was messed up that they would plaster their faces all over the news.
