Hey EG

This is the guitar part of my help my gear threads.
I hope this doesn't count against the multiple threads rule-I post this on the EG forum and the amp on the GG&A because each subject is more relevant to the forum it's posted on.

Ill edit in the address for the amp thread later,so it could be reflected upon for assistance.

So, here i go.

Ive got a budget of about 1700 USD for both guitar and amp,and i live in Israel-cannot go used.
I need a solid body guitar with at least 22 frets(24 not a requierment.but not unusable),
I'd rather a non-tremolo bridge or a non locking tremolo(i'd use a locking tremolo, but i rather no to have the trouble with chaning tunings and restringing), and i prefer an HH pickup combination.I'd use the guitar for alot between cleans to light gain, medium and high gain.
Id like the guitar to not have a strat-like shape(Fender strats,Jackson soloists,Schecter C-1 and the like).

Thats basically all i want in a guitar.
Also,feel free to suggest a guitar+pickup change.

So EG, what u got to say?

I'd say, spend 1000 on an amp and 700 on a guitar. You could get a Schecter hellraiser on ebay for 700. And you could get a peavey 6550 combo for about 1000. There you go, unless you dissagree.
Jackson DK-2 [2004 MIJ] (EMG 81/SA)
Jackson RR-3 [2007 MIJ] (EMG 81/60)
Ibanez RG370DX [2009] (EMG 81/60)
Epiphone Les Paul Custom [2004] (EMG 81/85)
Ltd/Esp M-17 7-String [2013] (EMG 81-7 set)
Bugera 333XL 120watt Tube Head, Crate BV412 Cab

I would say Gibson Les Paul Raw Power, but they're discontinued.
Any Gibson SG would work very well and you'd still have a good bit of cash to drop on a nice amp.

You pretty much just described a shecter c-1 (hellraiser, FR)

Good job. Great job. You Schecter fanboys are really something else. You could try reading threads before posting, y'know?

TS, are there any price differences we need to know about in Israel? Like if you search for guitars on www.guitarcenter.com or www.musiciansfriend.com
Can you find the guitars and amps for the same price in Israel? Or is there a site you're going to buy from?

There are lots of differences in prices between Euro markets and American markets.
Example: Schecters are like $1000 more in the UK than they are in America.

Alright then, so we're going with American sites, good.

What kinda music do you plan on playing? The stuff in your profile? Is there anything specific?

My profile is kinda outdated.
To that you can add some hardcore and abit of higher gain metal

Do you like LP shapes? or do you want to stray away from them since you have one?

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-Deluxe-EC1000-Electric-Guitar?sku=516629

In amber sunburst.

And is the amp you buy going to be for bedroom playing or gigging?

I dont really care about the shape unless you count what i said about strat shapes.

Also, i forgot: PLEASE no abalone.
Inlays, binding, whatever abalone-count it out please.

Well, the amp will be for home playing, but i want to be able to be heard over a drummer as well without going deaf while playing at home. Not to be an ass*ole but these kinda questions is why i put the other thread's link up.

Ahh, my apologies.

Well I say this for an amp. They also come in a black finish if you don't like the brown.
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-Classic-30112-Tube-Combo-Amp?sku=481014

It can handle everything from clean to a hard rock gain, then with the extra money look at some distortion or overdrive pedals to get into the BFMV, or Metallica gain.

As for guitars you should try:
Remember these all have incredibly different feels, so don't forget to try them before you buy any. I say that because I know someone's going to point out just how drastic the differences between these guitars are.

The peavey and one of these guitars should leave you enough extra cash for, a distortion pedal or something.

After checking out these guitars, i decided upon another one- a Faded Gibson Flying V.
It's 950 USD, giving me anough money for an amp.
Check my amp thread for my insights about the amp.

used guitars are out too right?

again severely limiting your bang for the buck.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

You could always go all out and get the guitar that makes amps tremble in its presence
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Schecter-Guitar-Research-Synyster-Custom-Limited-Electric-Guitar-423715-i1520011.gc

Syn plays that in a lot of his music. you can hear it all day on youtube.

Oh no....sigs are overpriced
