When I saw that, I thought of musical notes.... my elementary school teachers taught them as "tee-tees" "ta-tas" and a bunch of other nonsense....

This is going to be all jazz:
Wes Montgomery (only jazz player mentioned yet, but still, one of the most influential by far)
Johnny Smith
Jim Hall
Charlie Christian
Jim Hall
Tal Farlow
Pat Martino
Pat Metheny
Kenny Burrell
John McLaughlin
Howard Roberts
Grant Green
George Benson (the earlier the better)
Django Reinhardt

Since you probably won't look up all of these, at least look into Wes, Jim Hall, and Johnny Smith, and for some bluesy-er sounds definitely check out Kenny Burrell and Grant Green.
