As the title suggests I am stuck. Been refinishing an Ibanez GIO GAX30 I got given. The 3 way lever switch had taken some damage along with the body so i decided to replace this but stupidly i didnt note how is was wired before hand

Here is the type of switch I have exactly like the ones labelled a and c to it i am connecting 2 humbucker pickups 1 volume control and 1 tone control.

If someone has a GAX30 a picture of how its wired up would be very useful. Alternatively if someone could give me a run through of what wires have to go to what pins i would be grateful for too. Everything else is wired up i.e the jack to the volume and tone controls. just need to know where to connect them all.

Thanks in advance,

Benny

BTW, the pic isnt working for me. Thus im not sure what type it is. Assuming it is a 3 way lever (like on a telecaster) then you can just use a diagram for a tele with two humbuckers.

However, if its a 3 way toggle (like on a les paul) then you should use a diagram like this:

If you only have two wires from each pickup, then the hot wire goes to the switch, the ground wire goes, funnily enough, to ground.
Next time, please post in the ultimate wiring thread, its there to stop UG getting ten thousand threads like this a day.

it is a 3 way toggle however the pins arent aranged as they are on the diagram you linked me to. they are all down one side of the switch which is what is confusing me because ive seen many diagrams but none with my switch so i have no idea how to wire it haha :P

and ill bear that in mind next time haha!

Don't wait until next time, Benny. Go to the wiring thread now. There is a link at the very end of the 3rd post that will show you how to translate from the standard Fender switch to the Import switch that you have. Or if you prefer, I'll give you a link directly to an Ibanez factory drawing for your wiring, if you ask for it when you post in the wiring thread.

Find the wiring thread easily by using the GB&C Essential Links thread, stickied to the top of this forum.
