Hi guys, I'm looking to solo over a backing track in C minor for a school assessment, it's kind of a bluesy track, so I've found a pentatonic position on the neck which sounds pretty nice.

I know hardly any theore, so could anyone suggest me a certain scale or more or whatever to solo over this that would sound cool?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the chords behind it, but these definitely would work:

C minor pentatonic (1 b3 5 b7) - probably including the b5 sometimes

C natural minor (1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7)

If there's an F major chord, you can use C Dorian (1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7), if there's a G major or G7 you can use C harmonic minor (1 2 b3 5 b6 7) or melodic minor (1 2 b3 4 5 6 7) over it.

What is the chord progression?

From what I can make out, it's C, Cm, C, Eb Minor, C

Something like that, sorry if I'm wrong. The C natural scale sounds really nice with it =D

C, Cm, C, Eb Minor, C

so the notes you could use would be (without going into scales yet)

C, E, G

C, Eb, G

C, E, B,

Eb, Gb, Bb

C, E, G

However it does look a little odd, Eb MAJOR is the relative minor to C MINOR - so i think the Eb is probably a major, and the C major's in the progression are probably still minor, but with some sort of inversion or extension making them seem major?

Do you have the track itself to upload?
