Basically I'm sick of all the same bands like the big four, as good as they are, theres only so much pentatonic and floyd rose wankery that I can take. What other, perhaps lesser known but better bands are there? With solo's that aren't just pentatonics, but clean playing as well (not like clean as in clean channel, but like, proficient good playing if you get me) with no tremelo destruction. People like Paul Gilbert, even though he does'nt play thrash metal, he is a clean playing guitarist (same usage of clean as up there) and has his own virbato technique, which I think is miles better than using a Floyd.
So yeah, are their any thrash bands like that, with guitarists who use that style? Maybe name the guitarist as well?

Evile, Exodus, Machine Head are a few pure thrash bands. Bands that have those thrash roots there like Meshuggah and Necrophagist are some different bands you should check out.

i know people are going to bash me when i say this, but Trivium is a really good band. their latest album "shogun" is sonically one of the best metal albums out there today (in my opinion). i think they did a fantastic job of not letting it be another generic sounding metal album.

and i agree, the big 4's solos do get pretty old after a while.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Marty Friedman does not sure Pentatonic Wankery.
How dare you insult him.
No ego-inflating quotes nor stupidly long signatures to be found here.

Move along.

Bands/Artists of the month; Marco Sfogli, Marco Sfogli and Marco Sfogli .
