I've been looking up some new amps to fool around with.
And I want just a little practice metal amp, but surely high quality.

Could I use a RV 30 combo for metal?
I've seen it do some pretty high-ish gain stuff, but what if I were to boosted?
I'm highly interested...

Discuss?

Maybe some other amps to recommend?

ehh it can get heavy, but IMO it can't really do modern metal it's just not voiced right. It's a great amp but there are better choices

EDIT: I was thinking Rocker 30, lol are you talking about the new Rockerverb 30? If so I haven't played it yet but yes it should be good for modern metal judging by it's big brothers

Don't see why not?

Why blow you cash on a "practice amp" though if you're saving up for a 5150?

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

The Rockerverb is not a practice amp, if that's what you're implying.

If you want a low wattage tube amp that will do metal without breaking the bank, get a Jet City JCA20.

There is no rockerverb 30. The rocker 30 is a classic rock kinda amp. Enough gain for like metallica-y type stuff.

Look into the thunder 30 by orange, its out next month sometime. Has more gain than the rocker by the sounds of it.

Oranges are voiced pretty dark, so dont really be expecting any steve vai/john prettucci shred type tones.
