i seriously looking into getting one of these, however i do need 2 channels so the 20h is pretty much out. my question is how much gain does the 50 watt head have and what soldano is it based off of. i need it to do pop/punk easycore borderline hardcore. think four year strong

The 50 head is based on the Hot Rod Avenger, which is based on the Soldano SLO.

It has more than enough gain to do what you need, even on the clean channel.

Yes, more than enough gain with the 50 watt head. Not saying it would be a bad head, just not sure about pop/punk easycore.

Not sure, could I get a link to the sound you are going for?

The JCA50 can do classic rawk, all the way to teh br00tz with a good boo0000oost.

nom nom.

Also it's cleans are pretty fresh

the threads on here say the 50 has more gain than the 20, so you should be fine.

I don't see anything wrong with its voicing for pop punk, not really different than general hard rock. Metalish is where you get into the issues.

If the 20 has enough gain for metal with the right cab, the 50 has more than enough.

OP, if you listen to a Soldano Avenger, it'll sound like that. There's your voicing. Think British '80s, but that certainly doesn't stop people like Matt Pike, Warren Haynes, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others, in addition to Eddie Van Halen and George Lynch, from using those amps. Clapton used the SLO during the '80s as well.

WTF is easycore????

The 50 should work fine, the 20 has enough gain for metal by itself and the 50 supposedly has more, so yeah!

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
