I bought a used 10 watt solid state amp for my bass the other day, and it has a slight ground hum which goes away when I touch the metalic part of the 1/4" plug of the guitar cable. I know its not the guitar because ve tried it with other amps. It could be my houses wiring because it is over a hundred years old and not kept up well, but I did try it through a power conditonerm with no luck. Any one have any advice as to how to improve my sound quality, when I touch the cable, the amp becomes silent as a mouse and I great perfectly clean bass tones out of it.
maybe the amp isnt grounded?
Thats what I was thinking, does any one know how to go about fixing this, or can they reccomend a website
