A few questions about police and their behavior. But first a very entertaining story about why!

Two Saturdays ago I had a party at my house. At this party were two of my friends Lets call them "A" (girl) and "J" (boy). They're one of those couples that are crazy and fight/break up about everything except they get to the point of RIDICULOUS all the time. *A* is crazy and she punches/hits/throws/bites/etc when she gets blackout drunk and gets mad at *J*.

Well this was one of those times. *A* left and came back an hour later and starts hitting *J* with her car keys (outside in my yard thank god). Eventually the fight ended up in my driveway. *A* got in the car threatening to kill herself and *J* got in to take the keys out of the car and ended up getting bit a few times. Eventually *A* got out of the car and started screaming at him like she was possessed. After that she punched his car with keys and then got a rock a little bigger than a softball and threw it at his car windshield (cracking it). After that *J* had enough and restrained her on the ground (after getting punched, bitten, and hit with high heel shoes). Well that was enough *J* had me call the cops.

Now first of all...let me tell you that it took them an hour to get to my house. That alone is ridiculous considering she was going crazy and threatening to kill herself, not to mention the state police barracks are 5 minutes away from my house. When the cops finally get here we let *A* go and they take her over to the car to talk to her. The rookie partner talks to us. He starts off being a ****ing asshole and DEMANDING to know why we're up at 4AM, which if he wants to know whatever but he was being an asshole and making it sound like it was relevant. After that he yells at us telling us that "it's one of his first nights on the job and he had a horrible day, blah blah blah." The cops take *A* home and then we all finally go to sleep. The next day *A*'s brother tells me that the cops said that *J* could've been arrested for restraining her?

Now this is what my problem/questions are:
1.) I did NOT appreciate the cop literally yelling at us for being up at 4AM. Its not relevant to what is happening, we were up because of what was happening, and it just doesn't matter.
2.) I don't give a flying **** how horrible of a day he was having....its his JOB. I don't care if he just stopped a bank robbery including a fire fight, don't yell at me for calling for help. Would I be allowed to say those things to him or would I have gotten in trouble just because he's a cop?
3.) How could they have arrested *J* for restraining her? I mean seriously....she was threatening to kill herself, hitting him, throwing things at cars.....we're supposed to do nothing? What if she had a weapon? We're supposed to just sit there and do nothing and get shot/stabbed if that was the case? That makes no sense.

Well sorry for the long thread but I hope I entertained everybody with the story and please leave your comments about my questions! Thanks!

The technical term for this is "Drama."

In the future, avoid at all costs. Find some people who have more of a Bob Marley vibe going, they usually have better drugs anyway.

Crazy people like this are crazy because their parents were crazy, and their parents were crazy because... you get the picture!

Their fukked-up family has been that way since we evolved from amphibians, and you in your short, little life are not going to have one tiny little bit of impact on it.

Screw the cop, he was just reacting to the situation. The problem is your friends. They have drama.

Some other cop some other day, another jail cell, another drunk and disorderly, DUI, domestic abuse, divorce, blah, blah, blah.

Happens every day a million times over. Worry about yourself.

If by "entertain" you meant "annoyed with no actual relevant question and just incessant bitching" then yes. Yes you did.

What's wrong with being up at 4AM?!

And I've had an encounter with cops recently too. They were dicks.

Tough luck, mate.

You can't tell the cop to mind his own business. If it were me id avoid calling the cops all together.

High heels? Kinky.

But yeah, I agree, tough shit for the cop. But really A seems like some crazy ass fool.

Let's say I'm a cop, I arrive there. I see two things, a chick who is in piss drunk and is in hysterics and 2 dudes restraining her. Plus the chick is roughed up. Yea, I wouldn't take your word and side of the story as the one and absolute truth either. You think its not far fetched to think that you were trying to get the chick drunk so you could have your way with her but then things got a little out of control so you decided to call the cops before she got sober and did the same. Remember, the cop doesn't know you and doesn't know that you are a "good person" who would never do such a thing.

The Police took me and my friends names and addresses the other day because we were sat in a park and somebody called them and said we were sniffing aerosols (which we weren't). The police came over, searched us all, checked our pupils and reaction times, got negative results...and then decided to take our names down anyway.

On topic: The Police are 'better' than you. Not really of course, but you can't win against them. Live with it.

TS, your situation is interesting...don't let them over to your house again unless they're over at different times othersie your same situation will happen again. the 'rookie' cop SHOULDN'T have been displaying his emotions on the job like that. ESPECIALLY with him being a rookie, he prolly won't last that long if he's already easily showing anger at the public-expect to see him on the news in some anger-related employment termination with his department. even so, there's not much you can do about it. just deal with it and learn from it. when cops are breaking up a social gathering of youngsters, and there's some psychotic girl all doped up on alcohol or some other drug, there's no telling what their training has them to believe has occurred.

i hope everything works out

btw, i'm starting law enforcement training on the 16th, so i'm sure i'll get to learn about domestic disputes such as this to a great extent in the academy. i know most people like to have an anti-cop mentality, or 'us vs. them' thoughts, but just realize there's way more good decent cops than there are asshole ones. but it's a lot more rare for people to talk about an encounter with cops that went as it should have with no altercation.

i still can't believe a ROOKIE would run his mouth like that...talking about HIS bad day...as if he's even put in enough years of serving the public to even have the RIGHT to bitch about it. as far as i'm concerned, if you're still probationary, you should be kissing EVERYONE'S asses-the public AND your bosses.

I had an ear infection and was walking with my hood up, to keep the wind out of my ear, and got my name and address taken, and he made me take my hood down. I was in soo much pain.

I was walking home from the off-license one night, and they took the alcohol I just bought off me, because I couldn't prove I wasn't going to supply it to a minor.

My neighbour is a cop, he also grows weed in his kitchen.

Ya, the cops are soo corrupt right now. Several I know even admit it lol.

I had a similar experience, except that the cops removed us from the park and took our names... for no real reason. They said they'd got a call about us ''loitering'' so they took my name and the names of two of my mates (presumably we're the suspicous, 'ringleader' looking types ) and rather harshly sent us all on our way. So we went and congregated somewhere else instead.

It didn't make me angry, but it was slightly bemusing. What exactly was the point of all that? They must have been as bored as we were.

No, your friend cannot be arrested for restraining her, at least not in my experience. It was self defense. Yes, cops are assholes, but remember they have to deal with the losers of this world and their problems on a daily basis.

to the guy who was defending the rookie about being taken away from his wife. its not like he was woken up in the middle of the night on this call. he was all ready on duty.

to the TS not sure if I really believe thats what the rookie cop said to you, by the sounds of it you were intoxicated, so your testimonial is under question. that is ridiculous if you are telling the truth. honestly on your friend getting arrested, there is a pretty good chance of that, if A looked roughed up or anything. but it would have gotten sorted out and she probably would end up in jail, that is if your story is true.

To slash_rocks I think im going into law enforcement too, I wanna be a sheriff or maybe border patrol or DEA. What are you going into
