Anyone have a set-up on POD Farm for distortion guitars that sound good? I have one now, but it is still not the best. I need a more clear sound.

On high gain amplifiers turn down the gain and stick the screamer in front with the gain dimed and the drive at like 9 o clock. Much like on the amps they are modelling this will tighten up the bottom end a bit. Thats how i set it for pretty much all my distortion sounds for demos with the pod farm because i find most of them unuseable otherwise

Stick to the brit V30 and/or the treadplate cabs if you're not using impulses, experiment with the mics. Do you have metal shop?

Whatever one you want. Experiment. Jcm800, mesa recto, soldano model. All sound better with the screamer boost.

opinions! I want to record, but before I do, I want the best possible sound I can get. I want to hear others users sounds for ideas.

All the recordings on my ug profile where done on the pod farm apart from that crap quality webcam clip. I used a variety of models though and alot of it is double tracked (recording the same part twice and panning it)

I like Line 6's original amps like the Chemical X. Like angus said, keep the drive on 40-50%, stick a screamer in front (I don't fiddle with the knobs though; I leave it at default), add a little reverb, noise gate, 4-band EQ. For metal, I like interchanging the Treadplate, V30 and Line 6 4x12 cabs. For hard rock, I prefer to mix in some Greenbacks.

Play with the 4-band EQ and set up a dual-amp mode, so you can have, for example, a scooped mid sound on the right and a high mid sound on the right. Just gives you that extra flexibility.

I usually use the Lead Plexi with a Tubescreamer in front, but if you want a modern sound go with a JCM800 and a Fuzzface.

Sounds really cool. Anyway, you can save your preset and upload it for me??

Buy the metal pack and use the Diamond plate. That thing slays.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

ok, no offense, but I think that sounds horrible.

Ive found some good, ones but the riff I am trying to play is something like this

C#----0-0-8-0-7-0-5-0-0-0-3-0-0-0-2-3

And I havent found a good distortion sound that makes a riff that is being played on the top string and using alot of open notes on and off sound good.

If someone can find a me a preset that sounds like that song:

Id be a happy camper!

Different taste I guess. I'm using mine for super low tunings, but you're playing Godsmack.

Just do something similar to what I did except try different mics and cabs, and play with the EQ. If I used my setting and just tweaked the 4-band EQ, I could probably get any metal/hard rock sound you're after. If you can't get what you want out of the stock Pod Farm, buying metal shop probably won't help.

I've got what I think is a great tone on my system at home. I know it's called killswitch engage and I got it off customtone but I can't remember exactly which one it was.

I'll have a look when I get home.

Well I'll probably churn out something you think sounds horrible again. Play around with it; as long as you have ears you should be able to tell what sounds right.

BTW to the KSE tone above, I think it doesn't sound like KSE at all.

not if you now know the sound that I am trying to achieve. Anyway you can replicate or even get somewhat close to that Godsmack song?

Nope me neither, but for my setup it's about the best I've found. I've tweaked the above but as you say, it's all don't to preference.

Kse has really odd mids in it. Here's a clip of a preset I made for KSE, only podfarm, no post proccessing. If you want the patch just ask, but you'll need the metal pack to use it. Oh and podfarm 2.
