Ok, so I'm on a quest to create a custom tuning pegs. Essentially, I'm replacing the knob portion of each on of my pegs with a skeleton key for a steampunk kind of look. (After cutting off the teeth of the key, of course.)

Threading the shaft of the key would seem to be the most lasting method, but findng a metalworker to do it after shaving down the key to make sure it fits is a pain.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for how to do this effectively?
