I currently have a 15 watt peavy vyper and im looking to get a bigger and better 100 watt peavy vyper. I obviously will lean towards vypers since i have not played many others. But could people please list whats the best amp possible for a $500 or $600 that will be suitable for live gigs.
#2
I'm guessing that you're looking for a combo? Do you want to go tube or would you like to stick with a modeler?
#3
Can you tell us what you play?
Where you live?
Are you willing to go secondhand?
These are the things I must know.

Line 6 spider 75watt or 150 watt. Excellent combo amp.

I'm really hoping this is a joke.

Even if he were to stay with modelers, the Vyper blows Spiders out of the water.

you can look at the vypyr 100 or look at getting a decent tube amp, but we need to know what you play

Well i will be playing a Schecter damien elite 6 FRwith active emg 85/81's(http://www.guitarcenter.com/Schecter-Guitar-Research-Damien-Elite-FR-Electric-Guitar-584540-i1503905.gc ) with boss distortion pedal and dunlop cry baby wahh. I play from classic rock to heavy metal. Im looking into stacks or combos, and secondhand would not be a problem.

Spyders are pieces of trash that are over advertised so all your newbie players wanna play em to look cool. For proof go to guitar center and listen to the little high school boys miserably attempting to shred on a spyder. Soooo sad. So hell yes to vypers over spyders.

Such hate, I should point out that you are looking for a bigger vypyr with a budget of $500-$600.

Anyways. I would look at Bugera combos.

Don't buy anything from guitar center btw, they'll rape you worse than your daddy did.

OP, on that budget the Vypyr Tube would be better than the 100.

im sincerely sorry if my opinion offended you but it was in now way meant towards you. You could quite possibly be a great guitarist with ur spyder amp and i could respect that. My opinion of spyders is just put very low due to all the kids at my school using them and making em sound like trash with their abnoxious playing. So sorry for the disrespect to you and i appreciate ur opinion

What genre do you play, that would help ya know.

Instead of arguing with someone, how about you actually take the advice of everyone else.

Hopefully it's just trolling and no one is actually stupid enough to say "rape you worse than your daddy did"

+1 to 311 312?
The Vyper Tube is more of an upgrade than just getting a bigger version of the Vyper. But you can probably find a decent used amp on CL or something.

That's what he's getting.

I remember when all I wanted was the Spider III when it came out, and I saved up for the halfstack, and now I'm kicking myself in the ass for it.

I don't want him to make that same mistake by buying an amp that he's gonna learn to hate D:

Peavey Bandit 112 very nice, very loud 100w and its gonna run you maybe 200-250 usd then u can get sum pedals. If u wanna go tube u can get a used 5150 combo.

OK. So, assuming you really need help and are not a troll. I did some quick hunting. I used to be in your shoes and was completely overwhelmed by all the amps. If you truely like your Vypyr I suggest trying a tubed version ( 60 or 120) at Guitar Center or whatever. If you just want a strait up metal amp with no effects outside of reverb then I suggest the Peavey 6505+.

If you are potentially open to used gear, I'd take a look at this stuff plus whatever might be second hand at GC, Sam Ash, etc.

These are most recent to latest. All I did was type in 'amp' and then $300 - $700 dollars (assuming you have a low budget)...

Peavey XXX combo $425
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1886901649.html

Mesa Rectoverb combo $700
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1882902099.html

Marshall JCM900 combo $630
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1872113741.html

Line 6 Vetta combo $650
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1869089516.html

Sovtek Mig 50 head $500
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1862809074.html

Peavey XXX head $450
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1860547597.html

Line 6 Flextone III with floorboard $400
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1858054024.html

Mesa Boogie F50 combo $700
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1827241217.html

Peavey XXL and Cab? $300
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1830323902.html

Vox AD120VT $375
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1830921445.html

Line 6 Spider Valve head $650
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1832533484.html

Crate Blue Voodo halfstack $600
http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1836835840.html

the Rectoverb and the XXX's would be top on my list. The Mig 50 and F50 I'd have to play first but maybe not so much for modern stuff. Same for the JCM900 but def worth a look. The Line 6 stuff I posted can all do brootalz if you liek the built in effects like the Vypyr. The Blue Voodoo and Vox would be toward the end of the list for me but that does not mean they are bad amps for brootalz on the cheapzorz.

Hope that helps. I went back to July 5th so all the other amps you might see in the range I was looking are probably not worth your time.

good luckzorz

Try out both the Bugera 626x series, and the 333/xl amps
both lines can be had in combo or head form for well under $700
Both lines can easily handle metal...these are ALL high gain amps.
The 333/xl amps with have a bit better cleans...the 626x amps will have a more raw brutal distortion on the lead channels (but a nice tight crunch channel as well)

The 626x will be similar to Peavey 5150/6505/+ heads.
The 333 similar to a peavey XXX, and the 333xl similar to a JSX head.

As far as "Best amp for the money" the Bugeras win the multi channel contest hands down.
Jet City amps seem to have some REALLY nice single channel amps very cheap as well.
Ibanez RGR421EXFM, Michael Kelley Vex NV, Ovation Celebrity. Carvin V3
Peavey 412M w/Eminence Wizards & Swamp Thangs, Rocktron Hush Super C, Furman PL-8C,15 band EQ, Boosta grande, ISP Decimator, Dano EQ, Ibanez TBX 150,TC Elec Polytune

This Rectoverb has actually peaked my interests on a replacement for my stack.
Anyone got some details on it?
I guess all I'm asking, is can it do the brootz without being boosted, and all that good stuff.
You know, worth the money, would it last me awhile?
I know little to nothing about mesa's, and definitely nothing about mesa combo's.

Thans man ^^^ u sure did help, and just to specify, i dont care about effects, i use a floyd rose and pedels for that, i just want an amp with the best sound. And yes im fairly new to guitar, but my knowledge of guitars could compete with many, so people really need to stop being dicks to a kid who doesnt know about amps. But thanks to those who help!

The MGs are sterile pieces of junk imo....don't even get me started. If you want to hear potential different opinions then ask over at Harmoney Central Amp Forum....they seem to be quite fond of it.

Rectoverb will slay most anything in its path with no pedals.

The older amps I showed you will be much better quality wise than anything new you can buy today. (Edit: In that price range)
