I would recommend the Charvel. For one, I'm a HUGE fan of Charvels. Two, the Japs make excellent guitars (unless this was made in some sweatshop factory?) And, if it has an FR, it's more suitable for the type of music you play. It also plays perfectly. When a guitar plays perfectly, you eliminate all of the other guitars that don't play perfectly. And, if you want active pups, then just drop in a pair of Blackouts into the Charvel. They're cheaper, and better.

To me, the Charvel is a better deal.

charvel if you play mostly old school hair metal, thrash metal, etc.
jackson if you play tons of death, and modern metal.

Charvel all day
Me and my girlfriend were in a guitar store one day.

My GF- What's the difference between Gibson and Epiphone?

Me- (Explains)

GF- So Epiphone is like Gibson's slutty little sister?

Me- I love you.
