I've noticed recently - when i wear a white T-shirt in public, all ages (apart from chavs and various other similarly named douche bags) tend to be more inclined to give me eye contact or smile at me.

However if i wear a black T-shirt, the douche bags now look at me whilst all other ages tend to avoid my eye as if i'm going to stab them.

I understand colours can effect mood and so on, but that's like pale blue (calming) and orange (violence) - not plain black or white.

I look like this;

http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/8021/dsc04344c.jpg (On Left)

Now i don't look like someone whose going to stab you do i? Regardless of the colour of my T-shirt.

Does anyone else experience this? Is it a racial thing? Or is it just peoples perceptions that all 'youths' are associated with the colour black which is essentially thought as evil where as white is viewed as pure and good?

I have expereinced the exact same thing. I normally wear jeans and a dress shirt, and people have no problem talking to me or anything. If I wear a black t-shirt, people are more likely to avoid eye contact or get out of my way when I walk by.

I'm a part time student at my school, meaning I have half as many classes as everyone else, and often walk around aimlessly between them. I get lots of glares and disappointed looks from old people who think I'm skipping classes, it's brilliant.

As for something actually relevant, I have no idea.

I actually get what you're saying. members of the public tend to look at me better if i'm wearing bight clothes rather than say a black band Tee. There again, i thnk that's more to do with people thinking i'm a "dirty mosher" when i have a band Tee on. Black is often associated with "goths" or "emos" or "moshers".

I see the same thing too. When I'm in my school uniform I get the most dirty looks though, our school has a reputation for having a lot of violent students in gangs and drug use. These guys from my school smoke in their school uniforms after school right outside of the local McDonalds

Well in this instance it's 'dark blue'/black 'skinny' jeans with my white shirt, and blue jeans with my black shirt if that makes any difference

Not really - wishful thinking is everyone looking at me. And it's hardly a singular case when other people in thread have experienced similar?

Nope. This is the case.
You're probably curious about how the color of your t-shirt will affect people's reactions. You are eager to find a result, you want people to act differently depending on your t-shirt. Then you subconsciously misinterpret facts.
No offense, but I find it very unlikely that you were able to notice this without some numbers or anything, it seems way too subjective to me.

I don't pay attention to my surroundings. it's a bad habit, since I'm very accident prone. I don't think my clothes make a difference in how people look at me.

on the off chance I am paying attention, and I do see people staring, I just smile at them until they look away. I'm not concerned about whether they approve or disapprove.

Its not the fact that I always wear black or the fact that I have a chain hanging from my trousers that could anchor a ship that gets me odd looks from the public.

Its the fact that I sound like I escaped from an asylum when I laugh with my friends and the constant use of expletives that get me unwanted attention.

A fun game however is when people do look at you just stare right back dead in their eyes. They often pretend like they weren't looking in the first place
