Okay, so I've heard that it's a bad idea to slap on a neck-thru bass, but no one could give me a reason why. Does anyone here have any knowledge on the subject, or is it just a myth?

Thanks,
Mike

Okay guys, I have a confession to make. Not really a confession since it's something that's been bugging me for awhile but I've always been in denial about it.

Sounds like a guitard myth to me....

Slapping on a neck-thru will be the same as slapping on any other bass.

what you probably heard (or what the guy you heard it from heard) is that you can't slap on a fretless. this is also false but is at least alright logic.

Mark King slaps the hell out of his neck-through Alembic basses, so I don't imagine it is bad for the bass.

Slap away.
