As you may or may not know I have recently been GASsing for a 7 string guitar so I set out upon a quest to find and buy one today...

I then realised that I didnt like anything I tried or did I have any real reason to buy a 7. After all I just wanted to be able to tune down to sludge...

So I abandoned my quest, bought a new pedal and on my way out, Russ, the guy in PMT, the best store for gear in Essex IMO suggested I try something he thought might siut my needs.

So 2 hours later and a great deal ( over £300 off the list price, always worth making friends with the guys in stores lads! ) later I left with this...

hmmmm ok well a battered bass case... Dont let that fool you....

I know only 6 strings...

Yeah, I bought a baritone

Its an LTD Viper VB401

So normal LTD 400 specs,

Set neck, emgs and any colour so long as it is black, stain black or um purple..

But the big deal with this guitar is that it has a

27 inch neck

Which may not seem like a huge difference but it does make for a great feeling guitar when tuned down to A.

The EMGs sound like well an 81 and an 85.

The satin paint isnt my favourite but the neck is the same finish and feels gret to play and the neck is incredibly comfortable, so for that reason I can forgive the ugly body. The body shape is very comfortable to play sitting and standing, neck dive is not as big a problem as reviews had lead me to believe.

For what I am after at the moment this guitar ticks all the boxes and the amount I paid to get it means it under cut any reasonanble competition.

I can see why they are discontinuing the 400 line as they are too cloe to the 1000s in quality and when you find gem like this it really does make sene, same as the MH i had for a bit, these are truly great guitars for the money and just in general.

Grab them while you still can guys.

I like the "ugly" body.

Happy NGD. Looks like a real badass guitar.
Q: Favourite Pink Floyd song?
A: The one where they get wicked high and play Emin and A for an hour.

HNGD! A friend of mine has an ESP Viper Standard, and I can agree at least on the body shape - it's incredibly comfortable to play.

Hahaha....oh ok cool I guess I'm br00tal sometimes lol ,yeah I agree with the schecter thing I tried out for a band a few months ago and it everyone else that were auditioning had schecter hellraisers that looked like they came right from the factory and line 6 spider amps and I had my old guitar that people ask me how I can even play it lol and my old ass marshall....I'm glad I didn't get the job anyways but I think most of the reason was I didn't fit into the image hahaha...boy how metal has changed over the years!

Nothing i guess,

Just here in the UK they are massively overpriced for what they are, best case in point is my JR strat cost the same as a Hellraiser...

Doesnt make sense.

The second I saw it I said "Ohhhhhh" out loud. Nice, I'm quite interested in the design of the nut, I've never seen a nut with a square slot cut out of it for each string then the string slots cut into that slot.

Congrats

me and my buddy both said damn!!!!! but congrats!!! i think i might add that to my want list hahaha

Awesome guitar! *jealous*

I miss 6-string baritones. LTD isn't producing any this year :-(

it seems 7-string baritones are a lot more popular right now.

Its nice, but personally I prefer a 7 string...
And if I were to buy an ESP, It'd be a horizon...
Nice nonetheless

Thanks but a baritone suited my needs better than a 7 so I got one

Thanks guys
