Hey, didn't really know if this was the right forum, but it seemed appropriate.

I've been experimenting with tunings recently, so I thought I'd ask people what their favourite tunings are on their guitars?

At the moment mine is (high to low) E A G D A E

for acoustics, it's DADGAD, i'll rarely use standard for an acoustic. and for electrics, Drop C, Drop C#, Drop D, and E standard

Been messing around with capos a lot recently (essentially raised tuning).

Also there's a tuning Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth uses a fair bit, I might be wrong but I think it's CGDGCD. Had a go with that the other week and got some new cool stuff out of it.

Sonic Youth = a treasure trove of wierd tunings.

E standard all the way. However, sometimes VERY rarely I can use D standard.

Drop C#, or Eb Standard pretty much exclusively on my electrics. I couldn't tell you the last time I tuned to standard with them, probably years. I use DADGAD or E-G-D-F#-B-F#, if its not one of the other two, on my acoustic

On my acoustic i like to sometimes tune to CEDGBe, Drop D, or open Dm9. Other than that I pretty much just use standard on my acoustic. On my electrics, I use standard, Drop D, Drop Db, and Drop C.

Every once in a while I like to experiment with some really out there tunings on my acoustic (like tuning the 6th and 5th strings down really low so I can play chord tones with my left-hand tumb in the bass).

Don't know what it's called, or if it has a name for that matter, but from high to low: DAGDAD is what I like to use
or standard

That be known as DAD GAD. Funny enough I've never used that tuning yet, despite it's popularity xD

I've literally tuned to ABCDEF once. Except the high e nearly snapped and the A was incredibly loose. But i can say I did it now!

I liked screwing around with Open C major. CGCGCE

But it was mainly for playing SYL tunes.

Otherwise i'm mainly having my 7-string just a half step down so that i'm mainly playing in Eb. but the Bb is wicked for some serious CHUNK.

Same reason I started getting into open C (though mine was for Devin Townsend tracks more than SYL) but now I just love the tuning. So easy to come up with interesting melodys and chords.

Standard and Drop D on electric unless I decide to tune lower to Eb standard and Drop Db. On my acoustic, its in D standard, but I'll occasionly tune it to Open Gmaj7 tuning D G B F# G D

I only really use standard and open G.
Drop D seems useless to me TBH, unless playing specific songs, or if I need a low D really badly, which is almost never.
My strings are too small and loose for lower tunings . Plus, I don't play music that goes that low.

EADGBE.

sometimes DADGBE.

I used to mess around with tunings a lot, but I once changed tunings so many times in one week my high e broke less than a week after changing the strings...that was on my acoustic.
